3 Ways For Your Construction Company to Give Back in 2017

Are you looking for a way to make your company stand out in the industry?  How about a solution that not only builds your business, but also builds your community?  Here are three steps to proactively give back in 2017.

Step #1: Choose What Area To Give Back – and Research!

It is important to find the right charitable opportunity for your company.  Whether you are a contractor, a builder, or a consultant, assuredly there is an organization best suited for your company’s skills and passions.  But how do you find it?

A great first step is to contact your local professional associations, such as the Building Industry Association, and ask about their charitable extensions!

Some examples of construction geared charitable organizations are HomeAideNo Roof Left BehindHabitat for Humanity and Volunteer Match!  Additionally, every year there is a National Giving Event titled #GivingTuesday that takes place on November 29th.  Check out how to become a GivingTuesday Partner and allow your business to be seen in the community.

Step #2: Round Up Your Team and Go Volunteer

Business-based volunteer projects aren’t just good for the community; they’re good for you and your team too. Research suggests a good workplace volunteer program boosts team building, company loyalty, and workplace morale. What’s more, your community involvement can help attract new hires.  In a recent study, 61% of Millennials said a volunteer program would be a deciding factor if they had to choose employment between two otherwise equal companies.

Create a team atmosphere around your company’s volunteer project.  It can be as simple as organizing a beach clean up day, or volunteering to help at an event hosted by a local non-profit.  Either way, you will help to build your community and your team morale all at once.

Step #3: Share the Care!

After you have chosen your charity or non-profit, and organized a volunteer opportunity, it is time to share your care for the community with your clients!  Community involvement helps build your image as a trustworthy local business, so include plans to show potential and current clients you care about more than just the services you provide.  Remember to share volunteer project pictures and updates on your website and your social media! Remember to tag other local participating businesses and crew members with online social media profiles.
